Monday Qualifiers: Travelers Championship →

The Monday qualifier for this week’s Travelers Championship was a stacked field. Spencer Levin and Zack Sucher were competing for spots in this week’s event. Rising stars with phenomenal potential such as Justin Suh and 2019 U.S. Amateur runner-up John Augenstein also were in the field. However, all of the above failed to create the storyline Monday at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Connecticut.

Instead it was Stephen Stallings Jr. who stole the spotlight. He carded the lowest round of his professional career after firing a bogey-free 63 (-9). It was a “stress-free” round for Stallings Jr. He noted that his wedge game was exceptional, and he bested the nearest qualifier by two shots.

Megan Khang, the fighter, taking every punch Olympic can offer →

SAN FRANCISCO – She’s happy-go-lucky, she wears shorts when it’s freezing cold, but most importantly, Megan Khang is a fighter.

Every time Khang steps onto the first tee of a tournament, she’s thinking of her family. “If I can do what I love to help them not have to worry about anything ever again, I’m going to do whatever it takes to make that happen,” Khang told the LPGA in May during AAPI Heritage month.

Megan Khang accepts that there will always be gaps in her family story. Survivors of war often paint their experiences with a roller instead of a delicate brush. Like many survivors, the Khangs, who saw their relatives and friends brutalized, imprisoned and murdered in the late stages of the CIA’s secret war in their home country of Laos, never shared a lot of details. All that 23-year-old Megan, who was born in Massachusetts, knows is that “My parents at a young age, there was the war going on, and the Hmong people had helped the Americans, so they were offered asylum. My parents were lucky enough to be a part of that. They had different journeys getting to Thailand, because that was how they got to the United States, through Thailand.”

Brittany Lincicome prepares to return to LPGA in Las Vegas after suffering a miscarriage →

Brittany Lincicome was getting ready to put daughter Emery down for a nap when she picked up the phone. They’d been at a neighbor’s pool party with the family dog Dexter. On Monday, she’ll fly to Las Vegas for the LPGA’s match play event at Shadow Creek, ready to get back to work.

Lincicome was supposed to be at the Pure Silk Championship at Kingsmill this week. Last Monday, her bags were packed, and her parents were set to drive her to the airport after a routine doctor’s visit at the 12-week mark of her pregnancy. The day prior, Lincicome had experienced light bleeding. She talked to her doctor and friends and everyone assured her it was probably fine.

Sarah Kemp leads Pure Silk LPGA Championship with rookie Ana Belac lurking →

Two years ago at this time, Ana Belac was a senior on the Duke roster, helping her Blue Devils work their way through NCAA Championship week and ultimately to the national title. Belac was a big part of Duke’s seventh NCAA trophy – its first in match play – and hasn’t looked back since charting her career as a professional.

The 24-year-old from Slovenia finished first on the Symetra Tour money list last year, which earned her LPGA membership for the 2021 season as well as a start in the U.S. Women’s Open in December. Now, she’s lurking on an LPGA leaderboard.

Becoming a mom has been the best thing in the world. It sheds new light and perspective on everything. Having our daughter, Shay, in January of 2020 actually helped my golf game because of the new dimension it added to our lives.

My husband, Kevin, and I were so grateful for our daughter. But it was a long road. Kevin is seven years my senior, so he was ready to become a parent before I was. When we finally made the decision, it took us about three years. We considered in vitro fertilization. We talked about adoption, which we believe is one of the greatest blessings in life. We also went through all kinds of testing. Then, after deciding to undergo IVF and setting up the appointment, we got pregnant on our own, proving once again that God works in amazing ways. We had prayed and prayed, and nothing had happened. And then, once we set up the IVF appointment, we kind of relaxed and our prayers were answered.

Liu Wins Tucson’s Symetra Tour Event →

TUCSON (KVOA) -- Ruixin Liu (China) came from six shots down on Sunday to win the Symetra Tour's Casino del Sol Classic at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson.

Liu birdied the last four holes to force a playoff with Florida State grad Morgane Metraux (Switzerland) at 15-under par. Metraux had led by five shots at the beginning of the final round.

An amateur nearly won on the Symetra Tour on Sunday. Ruixin Liu, however, wasn’t going to let that happen.

It took two extra holes at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, for the Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic to reach a conclusion, but when Liu made a birdie on her third trip down No. 18 for the day, she effectively wrapped up her fifth career Symetra Tour title and forced Zhang to wait a little longer for her first win on the pro circuit.

DURHAM, N.C.— Duke University women's golf 2020 graduate Ana Belac made a splash on the Symetra Tour, after concluding her Blue Devil career this past spring.

A native of Portoroz, Slovenia, Belac registered six top-20 results across nine starts on the Symetra Tour, including her first professional win at the Carolina Golf Classic. She earned $49,081 on her way to receiving her 2021 LPGA Tour card and Symetra Tour Player of the Year accolades.

Kentucky high school golf legend Emma Talley becomes ambassador to promote girls golf →

A Kentucky native playing on the LPGA Tour has joined with two organizations to promote girls golf in her home state.


Emma Talley, a native of Princeton, Ky., will become a Tradition Ambassador to the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour and the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls Golf Tour (PKBGT) in 2021. The PKBGT season-opening event will bear her name — the two-day Emma Talley Girls Tradition — will be April 17-18, 2021 at Bowling Green Country Club. That is where Talley won three Kentucky state high school championships while playing for Caldwell County High School.
