“When it comes to alternate shot, it certainly pays to get off to a good start. It gets the day into a certain kind of groove. And proves to each partner that the vibe for the round is strong.
Lauren Hartlage and Brooke Matthews had exactly that kind of start Saturday at the DOW Championship."

“LPGA Tour athletes will often hit shots that make viewers stop in their tracks. But on Thursday at the DOW Championship, Megan Khang’s caddie had to stop traffic.
Khang, who is one half of Team Biggie Smalls at the LPGA Tour’s lone team event, found herself slightly out of position on No. 16 after a tee shot from Lexi Thompson was pushed to the left. Alas, Khang knew the rules and took an appropriate drop and then hit a magical recovery shot underneath a tree to the back of the green.”

“FRISCO, Texas — Lauren Coughlin can tell you the exact moment she fell in love with Metallica.
‘It was right after COVID, and I was back at my parents’ house, and I was driving in my old 2008 Scion TC. That was my car from high school,’ Coughlin remembers. “It doesn’t have any fancy radio or anything, so I was listening to the radio, and the song “Unforgiven” came on, and I was like, ‘Who is this? I’ve never heard this song.’ I looked it up, and it was Metallica.”

“Championship Sunday at Erin Hills Golf Course was full of history, and it was all written by Maja Stark, who became a first-time major winner at the 80th U.S. Women’s Open presented by Ally.
The Swede not only became the sixth player from her country to capture a major championship victory, but her win was the 50th major title to be earned by an Epson Tour alumni, adding her name to an impressive list that includes players like Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Celine Boutier, and Hannah Green, among others.”

“ERIN, Wis. -- Maja Stark had lost her confidence heading into the U.S. Women's Open.
Her decision to stop worrying about that sparked her to the biggest title in women's golf.
The 25-year-old Swede shot an even-par 72 on Sunday and stayed ahead all day. Her four-day total of 7-under 281 at Erin Hills left her two strokes ahead of top-ranked Nelly Korda and Japan's Rio Takeda.”

“ERIN, Wis. – What did Maja Stark do during that extraordinarily long wait on the 18th green – as Julia Lopez Rameriz posted a disastrous eight – with the U.S. Women's Open hanging in the balance? Well, she listened to her caddie, Jeff Brighton, tell a few jokes. The veteran looper used to be a stand-up comedian, and while Stark couldn't remember exactly what he'd said, that part doesn't really matter.”

ERIN, Wis. — A lot has changed in 17 years for Allisen Corpuz.
She’s a bit taller than she once was and hits the golf ball a lot further. She played collegiate golf at USC, earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in her time as a Trojan and establishing herself as one of the nation’s top amateur players.
She moved away from her native Hawaii and joined the LPGA Tour, winning for the first time at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach and competing on two U.S. Solheim Cup Teams, one of which won last year at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. She even got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Daniel Eckstrom.
But one thing that hasn’t changed over the last nearly two decades is Corpuz’s quietly competitive nature, something that will be on full display once again at the U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills. And unlike many in this year’s 156-player field, the 27-year-old has a history with this venue, which is hosting the world’s best female athletes for the first time since it opened in 2006, but unfortunately, it isn’t one that she remembers much about.
