Bio:
Malia Nam’s journey into professional golf is one of drive, determination and perseverance. Malia was raised by a single mother in Hawaii with limited resources or access to golfing opportunities. When Malia was six years old, her mother gifted her a few clubs from storage and enlisted her in the same golf program where Michelle Wie got her start. Malia’s competitive spirit fueled her to succeed and propelled her to a successful junior golf career with three OIA Golf Championships and a spot in the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur.
After a breakout freshman season at USC where she was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Malia required a hip surgery to correct an ongoing issue that was inhibiting her on and off the course. She overcame more than eight months of rehabilitation to make a strong return to college golf. In 2023, she entered the LPGA Qualifying Tournament and battled her way through all three stages to secure her LPGA Tour card for 2024. As she begins her professional career, her story serves as an inspiration for young children in Hawaii and around the world to overcome any obstacles in pursuit of their dreams.
