She did it again! Stacy Lewis won for the 4th time in 2012 by winning the LPGA’s Mizuno Classic in Japan – a tournament sponsored by her very happy golf club sponsor Mizuno. This time, Lewis shot a final round 64 that included 10 birdies and finished with birdies on the last three holes to come from 7 shots back to win by 1. She now has a virtually insurmountable lead in the LPGA Player of the Year (PoY) race with two tournaments remaining. Should Lewis win the PoY award, she would become the first American player to win that award in 18 years.
Congratulations to Stacy Lewis on winning the Navistar LPGA Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. With this win, she has not only swept both tournaments in Alabama, but she has strengthened her grip on the #1 ranking among American players and her #2 position in the Rolex World Rankings. In fact, Stacy is the only American player ranked in the top 10.
Congratulations to Chicago White Sox Rookie pitcher Nate Jones, who finished his season with a 8 – 0 win/loss record and a 2.39 ERA, while occasionally hitting 100 mph with his fastball. He played a little defence too as you can see from this link. Congratulations on a great year Nate!
Congratulations to Brittany Lang for winning the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic in Waterloo, Ontario!
Not only was it Brittany’s first LPGA win, it was also the first ever professional win for the storied Duke Women’s golf program.
